Call for Abstracts

You are invited to submit an abstract for the Networking Reception at our 6th AACORN National WorkshopThe purpose of the Networking Reception is to provide an opportunity for workshop participants to learn about current research of AACORN members, affiliates, and other scholars, as a foundation for promoting future collaborations and mentoring/mentee opportunities. The Networking Reception will take place on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. 

We particularly encourage abstracts related to the 2014 workshop theme, and that focus on approaches to communicating about weight and related issues in African American children and adults. However, we welcome abstracts related to all populations and in all settings. We also encourage creative and non-traditional presentations of research findings.  Examples include but are not limited to: a) aesthetic representations of research themes or findings within a poster, b) interactive posters or videos, c) infographics,  d) motion graphics, e) mobile app demonstrations.

All abstracts must be received via email by 5:00 p.m. (EDT) on Friday, July 11, 2014. Abstracts should be submitted to . Please include AACORN 2014 abstract submission in the subject line of your email. There will be no extension of this deadline.  A confirmation of receipt email will be provided for all submissions. Individuals will be notified if their abstract has been accepted by Friday, July 18, 2014.

If your abstract is accepted, you will be asked to be present to discuss your work with workshop attendees on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. (note the reception begins at 5:30pm).
